No Florida Veteran Left Behind Be an Ambassador

Dr. Norman Thagard, Vietnam Fighter Pilot and Astronaut, to Serve as Honorary Chair

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Time to dust off the clubs and breathe fresh air to honor and support Veterans charities at the Leatherneck Scramble Golf Tournament to be held at SouthWood Golf Club on Monday, November 16, 2020. This year’s Honorary Chairman is Dr. Norman Thagard, Vietnam Fighter Pilot and Astronaut. The tournament is open to all golfers, duffers and novices who want to come out to have fun, celebrate and support our heroes. Sponsorship packages are now available which include Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, Silver Star and Bronze Star to mention a few. Golfers will also be able to play at their leisure between October 26 and November 17 and compete in the Virtual Golf Event which will also earn prizes and awards. Also included are virtual putt-putts, golf at home, honor a veteran and other ways to help support the mission of both organizations.

The Florida Veterans Foundation and the Marine Corps League, Detachment 472 have put together a stellar tournament which includes contests of skill that include hand grenades, alibis and a “break the sound barrier” contest which will shatter all records. Players will experience one of the most celebrated golf course layouts in Florida and enjoy a day of fun, ceremony, and support for Veterans. Awards will be given to the first, second and third place team along with the infamous “Maggie’s Drawers” award for the heavy hearts. Scramble rules apply along with COVID-19 precautions.
