How The Free Ride Program Works
Step 1
Call your local participating VA facility and ask to speak with a Social Worker about transportation for a medical appointment.
See map for VA locations. (Florida locations only)
Step 2
A Social Worker will complete a brief evaluation to determine if you meet program guidelines.
Step 3
The Social Worker will collect information to include your appointment time, pick up address, drop off location and telephone contact if you have one.
Step 4
The Social Worker will order the trip for you and provide you with the pick up time and the vehicle and driver information if you do not have a phone.
Step 5
If you have a cell phone, Uber will send you trip details about the driver’s name, car type, license plate #, estimated arrival time.
